“As if” is the mode of perception, that is, of the world. We act as if we were autonomous subjects and as if a version of the real, closed and coherent, was waiting for us. However we do not find more than evidences and traces, suspicions that something inaccessible lies behind the signs.
Reality, already alien to “the thing itself”, is revealed as a problem, as well as identity and memory.
Trying to reveal the web of reality, sometimes art allows us to alienate from ourselves and to reach certain lucidity, and sometimes it entangles us in its own labyrinth of signs.
Meanwhile, motivated by the attempt to give some light to the enigma of reality, perhaps through art, we feel overwhelmed by the longing for the lost home.
